Mark delivers author visits, writing workshops and anti-bullying programs for middle schools
“My written and spoken-word presentations capture their attention, hold their imagination, inspire possibility, and create joy. It’s always fun to surprise an auditorium full of too-cool kids and have them cheering by the end.”

- Author visits, multiple day residencies and writing workshops
“His writing and story making workshops are truly revolutionary. In less than two hours, he can teach a methodology for creating whole stories, and call the students to actually write and tell their own tales.”
How can students unlock creativity and shape narrative? This program teaches them a method that produces amazing results in an incredibly short period of time. - Stories for Peace – resolving conflicts / handling bullies
Based on more than 20 years experience in the martial arts, Mark has developed a (nonviolent!) series of stories, exercises and conversations that will help students understand the source of conflict, and ways to resolve them. This year, we’ve added an optional cyber-bullying component. A perfect supplement to Mark’s latest book, “Stories for Peace.” For more information, please Click Here - It Ate My Sister (and other family stories)
The pure pleasure of spoken word and tall tales. A combination of spoken-word, literature and theater, this program correlates to written and spoken excerpts from Mark’s popular book It Ate My Sister. - Spooky Stories – Comedy and Horror (appropriate for schools)
- Tall Tales A collection of tall tales and whoppers.
- Eureka! Relieving Math Anxiety & Producing Results
Mark enjoys the challenge of hooking the attention of young people in middle and high schools, and then keeping them engaged. His lessons and stories are designed to get under their radar, and invite them to participate. Students (and teacher) listen with smiles on their faces, and are always eager to hear more.
